Road to Brazil 2027. Ecuador’s women are three games from the final round of the World Cup play-offs. La Tri Femenina will face Ghana, South Africa and Chinese Taipei, in that order, in the preliminary phase of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 Play-Off Tournament, which runs from November 24 to December 5.

FIFA has not yet confirmed the venue, dates or kickoff times. All six teams play at one central venue. Uzbekistan and Papua New Guinea complete the field, and each team plays three games, one against a side from each of the other two seeding pots.

How the play-off works

The results go into a single six-team table, and only the top two advance. The final phase is played from February 23 to March 6, 2027, also at a central venue. There, the two qualifiers join two Concacaf teams, one from UEFA and Venezuela, who finished third in the CONMEBOL Women’s Nations League and skipped the first round. FIFA says the six teams will be split into three ties, and the three winners go to the World Cup.

Ecuador finished fourth in the Nations League, which is why they start a round earlier than Venezuela. Brazil (hosts), Colombia and Argentina have already qualified for the World Cup, which runs from June 24 to July 25, 2027.

Espejo’s last camp before November

Coach Eva Espejo held a training camp at the Casa de la Selección in Quito from October 5 to 12 with 24 players from clubs at home and abroad, El Diario reported. The paper described it as one of the staff’s last chances to settle the team and tactics before the play-off.

Experienced names such as Ligia Moreira (Villarreal), Joselyn Espinales (Palmeiras), Nayely Bolaños (León) and Danna Pesántez (Belgrano) were in the group. The final squad for the play-off has not been announced.

Ecuador’s only Women’s World Cup appearance came in Canada in 2015. We will post the venue and kickoff times in ET on our Schedule page as soon as FIFA confirms them.
