Ecuadorian football. La Tri, youth, women, players abroad and LigaPro.

Rumor. Marcelo Gallardo could hand first senior call-ups to as many as six LigaPro players for Ecuador’s November friendlies. Journalist Johanna Calderón reported the names on Studio Fútbol’s program De Una, and Bolavip (Gustavo Dávila) and El Futbolero Ecuador picked up the report on Friday. It is not an official list. The FEF has not announced anything.

The names

According to Bolavip, the six are Aucas trio Piero Guzmán, Andrés Mena and Alex Zova, Macará’s Mateo Viera and Martín Tello, and Barcelona SC’s Jerly Wila. The outlets disagree on Viera’s club: Bolavip places him at Macará, while El Futbolero writes about his 2026 season with Barcelona SC. El Futbolero adds that Wila would face stiff competition on the left wing from Nilson Angulo, Jeremy Sarmiento and John Mercado.

How reliable is it?

Medium. This is one journalist’s report, repeated by two outlets. It fits what we know: Gallardo’s staff spent this week visiting LigaPro clubs and watching the national youth finals. El Hoy reported that Gallardo has until Oct 25 to notify clubs of his November call-ups. Bolavip says the official list is expected in the first week of November. Until the FEF or La Tri publishes it, treat these names as possibilities.

Bolavip also says the staff are watching the possible returns of Moisés Caicedo, Gonzalo Plata and Piero Hincapié, who all missed the October window. Hincapié is available for Arsenal against Everton on Saturday.
