Aucas have started planning for 2027, and one of the first names on their list is Hernán Galíndez. Vistazo reports that Aucas sporting director Juan Manuel Durán will fly to Argentina to meet the Ecuador goalkeeper and find out whether he would come back to Quito. The story was first reported by journalist Johanna Calderón.
The obstacle: a contract to December 2027
The two clubs are not formally negotiating, and there is no agreement. Galíndez renewed with Huracán in February 2025, and his deal runs until December 2027, so Aucas would need Huracán to agree to an early release. Huracán have little reason to let him go. At 39 he is still their captain and first-choice goalkeeper. According to Vistazo, he has played 30 of Huracán’s 31 games this season, with 10 clean sheets and 27 goals conceded.
Aucas are hoping the history helps. Galíndez arrived in July 2022 and was central to the club’s first league title that year. Aucas won the final 1-0 against Barcelona SC in Guayaquil, then drew 0-0 in Quito, where he saved a Damián Díaz penalty. He returned to Argentina and Huracán in January 2024.
Why it matters for La Tri
Galíndez was in Marcelo Gallardo’s squad for the Asia tour in October. Whether he finishes his career in Argentina or in LigaPro makes little difference to his national-team chances, but regular minutes at his age do. Leaving a starting job at Huracán for an uncertain role at Aucas would only make sense if Aucas guarantee he starts.
Also on the 2027 rumor mill: Félix Torres to LDU?
Another Ecuador international is being linked with a LigaPro return. Reports from Brazil, picked up by FutbolEcuador, say Félix Torres must go back to Corinthians in December when his loan at Internacional ends. Corinthians own his rights but do not appear to count on him for 2027. LDU Quito are named as the most interested club, and they reportedly asked about the 29-year-old center-back as early as June. A move home would give Torres the regular minutes he needs to stay in Gallardo’s plans.
