Barcelona SC and Emelec

Members of the coaching staff visited Barcelona SC’s facilities “as part of the work of building ties with, and permanently following, Ecuadorian football,” the FEF wrote, calling it “a space for dialogue and exchanging ideas.” The federation thanked the club for hosting them.

Later in the day, the FEF said the staff “continued their tour of the country’s clubs” at Emelec, where they got to know the club’s “way of working” and talked with its representatives. The visits are part of an agenda to “keep direct contact with the clubs, strengthen the institutional relationship and join forces for the benefit of Ecuadorian football,” the federation added.

Neither post named the staff members or any players. El Canal del Fútbol stressed that the Barcelona SC visit does not imply any negotiation or link between Gallardo and the club. The staff were also at the Monumental on Saturday for Barcelona SC’s 1-1 draw with Universidad Católica, as La Tri posted at the time. Gallardo’s squad for the November friendlies against Costa Rica in Quito (November 13) and Bolivia in Guayaquil (November 17) has not been announced yet.

Mini Tri: La Tri Desarrollo back at work

La Tri also posted photos of La Tri Desarrollo training at the Casa de la Selección in Quito, with the caption “the future starts here.” La Tri Desarrollo is the FEF’s development program for players born in 2012 and 2013, backed by FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme, according to the federation. The post did not say how long this camp lasts or who was called up.

The program feeds the U-15 team. According to Primicias, eight players from the La Tri Desarrollo group have already played for the U-15s. Cristian Cachipuendo’s 14-man squad for the FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival in Baku opens Group U against Cabo Verde on Saturday, October 24. La Tri reposted its team photo of the delegation on Tuesday along with an FEF guide to the tournament. Every Mini Tri game is on our Schedule page.
