Huracán lost 2-0 at home to Tigre on Friday night, their fourth defeat in a row. Local reports said the fans at the Palacio Ducó turned on the coach and the players, with Hernán Galíndez one of the few they spared. The Ecuador goalkeeper captained the side, played all 90 minutes and was applauded at the final whistle.
Tigre scored through Dómina just after half-time and added a second from Serrago deep into stoppage time. Huracán finished with ten men after Fabio Pereyra was sent off. ESPN’s match report did not blame Galíndez for either goal and highlighted a one-on-one save he made against Ignacio Russo. Clarín gave him a 5 out of 10.
Forward Jordy Caicedo, Huracán’s other Ecuadorian, missed the game through suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card of the tournament.
A last game at the Ducó?
Huracán fan outlet GloboToque said an emotional Galíndez was cheered off at full time in what “could have been” his last match at the Ducó, and that he has earned a place in the supporters’ hearts. That idea is speculation, not news from the club. But it lands a day after Vistazo reported that Aucas want to sound him out about a 2027 return to Quito. Galíndez’s contract with Huracán runs until December 2027, and the two clubs are not negotiating.
There is also a more practical reason it may have been his last home game of the year. Huracán are eighth in their Clausura zone with 19 points and finish the regular season away at Argentinos Juniors with their playoff place still at stake.
Elsewhere on Friday night
Pedro Vite (Pumas): Vite started Pumas’ 2-1 win at Puebla in Liga MX. He was booked in the 73rd minute and replaced by Luciano Herrera in the 87th, according to the club’s live updates. Pumas won it at the death, when Colombian Álvaro Angulo headed in a corner in the 90th minute.
Joel Ordóñez (Club Brugge): Ordóñez was not in the squad as Brugge won 4-2 at Zulte-Waregem.
