Moisés Caicedo wore the armband again as Chelsea beat ten-man Manchester United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The Ecuador midfielder played until the 87th minute, when Danny Welbeck replaced him, and FotMob gave him a 7.2 rating with two tackles won.
Rogers opened the scoring five minutes after half-time. The game turned in the 63rd minute when Lisandro Martínez picked up a second yellow card, and Cole Palmer converted a penalty a minute later to make it 2-0. Chelsea move up to fourth with 16 points, while United stay 16th on seven.
It was a quick turnaround for Caicedo after he captained Chelsea for 68 minutes in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup shootout loss at Anfield. His midfield battle with United’s Carlos Baleba was one of the most shared clips on social media after the game.
Next up: an Ecuadorian date at Sunderland
Chelsea’s next league game is away at Sunderland on November 8, which could put Caicedo up against Nilson Angulo. Nilson started on Saturday wearing the number 10 in Sunderland’s 3-1 defeat at Coventry, playing 57 minutes with a FotMob rating of 6.5.
